Beachbody Insanity Workout Program Reviews

Looking for reviews of the Beachbody Insanity home workout program? Then you're in the right place! We are big fans of total-body, bodyweight-only, circuit-training workouts. Why? Because they simply work better than just about anything else out there for burning fat while toning/building lean muscle and developing real-world strength in a relatively safe way... all at the same time! With that in mind, we figured we'd do a quick review of the very popular 60-day home fitness program based around intense bodyweight circuit training. Insanity is brought to us from the folks at Beachbody, the same company that developed the ever-popular -- and very similar -- P90X program as well as the Brazil Butt-Lift workout program (among others).

As with all Beachbody products, the majority of the Insanity reviews you'll find online are very positive -- maybe too much so. It's difficult to know which ones are real and which ones were written by one of the thousands of "Team Beachbody" members -- or "coaches" as they're called -- who make money selling the products. In fact, the last time we checked, only about 10% of the Insanity workout reviews online contained any negatives/cons at all.

Fortunately for you, Fast Easy Fit is an independent website that provides independent, BS-free info. The goal here is to provide a real, non-biased, and useful review of the Insanity workout program that highlights both the "good" and the "bad" about this interesting new fitness product. The Good

If you can stick with it, the Insanity workout system will almost definitely help you lose fat while toning all the muscles in your body at the same time. And it'll do it fast. That's because it's a super-intense exercise program based around total-body interval training. It combines both effective bodyweight strength training moves with various forms of high-intensity cardiovascular exercise (including HIIT). This provides you with the best of both worlds, in terms of burning fat and building and toning sexy lean muscle tissue. Plus, as with nearly all bodyweight exercise-focused programs, Insanity can help you develop a ton of useful "functional" strength and fitness, which can improve your overall health, make you a better athlete, protect you from injury, and simply help you move and feel a lot better!

The Bad

In our opinion -- and from what we've heard from a few people who've tried the program -- many people who buy Insanity aren't going to stick with it for more than a couple of weeks. That's because a large percentage of the people who buy "infomercial" products are looking for a quick and easy solution to a problem. Insanity is certainly not "easy" by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, it's probably too difficult for the average totally-out-of-shape person looking to lose 20+ pounds while getting into shape at the same time. The only thing the typical person likes less than pain is LOTS of pain.

One common theme we've seen in many of the Insanity reviews is that it seems to work best for people who already exercise on a regular basis. These are people who already have a base of cardiovascular conditioning and won't be totally overwhelmed by the high intensity levels of the Insanity workouts. They are looking to kick things up a notch and burn off the rest of their stubborn belly fat while getting those lean, sexy, strong "fitness model" muscles (including six-pack abs!).

The other problem we see is the same for many home workout programs: most people simply do not have the discipline to do a hard, painful workout by themselves inside their homes on a nearly daily basis. It takes a good amount of self-discipline and self-motivation to get yourself to workout at all day in and day out for weeks and months on end. It takes a HUGE amount to do it totally by yourself... in your living room or bedroom... in front of your TV... with your kids, pets, spouse, cell phone, etc. distracting you!

One more thing: Insanity's price seems to be a little high for what it is. There are other really good home workout programs -- based around high-intensity calisthenics, aerobics, latin dance, kettlebells, etc. -- that are quite a bit cheaper and just as effective. And although "Shaun T" -- the hip hop dancer who leads you through the workouts -- seems like a good instructor, we don't know if he's that good! For nearly $150 you could buy several sessions with a one-on-one personal trainer in many cities.


Conclusion

The Beachbody Insanity workout program is based on solid fitness and exercise fundamentals that we know work very, very well for both fat-burning and muscle-toning. It's basically a bodyweight calisthenics workout based around different forms of high-intensity interval training. It combines some very effective exercises, including basic plyometric movements, with a proven form of fat-burning HIIT-based cardio (similar to the Tabata method).

The main problem with Insanity is that it's probably too intense for many of the people who order it looking for a "quick fix" to their weight loss problems. If you haven't worked out in years and are completely out of shape look somewhere else. Insanity is only going to leave you sore, frustrated, and hating exercise (never a good way to feel!).

Lose Your Belly Fat in 2 Weeks... ?

The other day someone asked me if she could lose most of her belly fat in just 2 weeks. She really wasn't fat but she did have some "tummy" fat that she wanted to lose before going on a cruise in February. Obviously I had to tell her the truth: it's nearly impossible to lose a very large amount of stomach/abdominal fat in just 14 days.

But there is some good news. It is possible to lose several pounds and inches in that short amount of time if you follow a very structured diet and exercise regimen. It's not exactly "easy" but it is simple. It goes something like this:

-- Start drinking large amounts of water. Shoot for a gallon per day!

-- Stop eating all processed foods and simple sugars. This will cut your calorie intake and get your blood sugar and insulin levels under control (making it much easier to lose weight quickly).

-- Start eating 5 small meals and snack per day, spaced about 3 hours apart.

-- Get all of your calories from lean proteins, healthy fats, and good carbs. Nearly all your carbohydrates should come from vegetables, beans, legumes, nuts, seeds, and small amounts of fresh, raw fruit. Aim for "low glycemic-index" carbs as much as possible.

-- Start doing about 30 minutes of variable-intensity exercise per day. Full-body circuit training is the best option. Also do some high-intensity interval training (HIIT) if you already have some conditioning. Do ab exercises at the end of your workouts... not because they're going to "spot reduce" your belly fat but because they'll strengthen, tone, and tighten-up your abdominal muscles, making it look like you have lost belly fat!

-- Drink at least one whey protein shake per day. Also take a good multi-vitamin supplement and, preferably, a omega 3 fat supplement like fish or krill oil.

By following the steps above I can't promise that you'll lose your belly fat in only 2 week, but I can promise that you'll drop several pounds and almost definitely lose inches from your abdomen, hips, things, and butt.

Cissus Quadrangularis for Weight Loss: Any Reviews?

We've been getting questions about a substance called cissus quadrangularis and its potential weight loss benefits. Only one of our writers had actually heard of the strangely-named plant before, and he only remembered reading about its apparent ability to speed healing of tendon and ligament problems in bodybuilders. "Help Me Lose Weight Faster Please!"

The other day my 40-year-old female friend called me on the phone and said this: "Help me lose weight faster please!". She told me that she'd been trying to lose 15 pounds fast -- in less than 3 weeks -- by following a typical low-fat/low-calorie diet and jogging about half an hour on a treadmill 5 days a week. After nearly 2 weeks she had only lost 5 lbs. Plus she had low energy, felt bad overall, and was having trouble sleeping due to the caffeine-based "fat burner" she'd bought at her local GNC. Needless to say, she was frustrated with her poor weight loss results, which is why she called me.

First, I told her that it was unlikely that she'd lose the other 10 pounds in the week and a half she had left before her big event (a wedding). Even if she did lose that much weight, only a small percentage of it would be from actual fat loss... most would be lost "water weight" and reduced lean muscle tissue. The good news, I told her, was that with the right strategies she could definitely drop a few pounds of flab and tone up her body in a way that would make it look like she was 10-15 lbs lighter.

Here are the 3 tips I gave her to help her lose weight faster:

1. Do a 1 or 2-day raw juice fast

This is a great way to jumpstart any weight loss program. You simply consume nothing but fresh raw vegetable and fruit juices along with large amount of pure water and/or "lemon" water for 24 to 48 hours. It'll help to cleanse and "detox" your body, boost your energy, and even help you drop a pound or two quickly and easily. Also, during this time skip any fat-burner or energy-booster supplements you may be taking and focus on "re-charging" your body naturally.

2. Get on a better diet

The low-fat "starvation" diet my friend was on obviously wasn't working too well for her. I told my friend to do 2 or 3 2o-minute workouts each week, based around compound bodyweight movements like squats, lunges, push-ups, pull-ups, inverted rows. I also recommended that she do some "push press" variations with relatively light weights. This type of exercise will cause her body to burn lots of fat, even for hours after the workout is completed, while also protecting and toning that sexy lean muscle tissue. By doing a total body workout that works most of the muscles in the body she'll also cause her body to pump out some pretty powerful steroid-like hormones that can dramatically speed up the fat-loss/muscle-toning processes.

So that's pretty much it: next time you or someone you know want help to lose weight faster, show them the tips outlined above. They work very well and provide quick, healthy, safe weight loss results to just about anyone who tries them!

In this article I'm going to show you the best way to burn fat, lose pounds, but also keep -- or even increase -- that vital lean muscle tissue that will keep your metabolism high and allow you to keep the weight off!

1. Intense Strength Training -- Without a doubt this is the best exercise for boosting the metabolism, burning fat, losing lbs, and keeping/increasing muscle. It basically involves doing short workouts based around high-intensity sets of compound resistance movements. Intense strength training helps to burn fat extremely efficiently in 3 main ways:

-- Requires lots of energy (calories) during the actual workout
-- Re-building/repairing muscle tissue uses up lots of energy during the 1-2 days after the workout

Consumer Reports Reviews the Ab Circle Pro

Consumer Reports magazine finally got around to reviewing the Ab Circle Pro, which has become one of the top-selling fitness products in the US. As usual, they started by questioning the claims: a firm and flat stomach in just weeks by exercising only 3 minutes a day. All for just $200! They measured the actual energy expenditure and muscle activity that occurs when a typical person uses the machine. They also evaluated the nutrition plan that comes with the Ab Circle.

They had several men and women use the machine so that they could measure how much exercise they were actually doing and how many calories they burned. They even had 9 women and 4 men do the entire DVD workout coached by Ms. Ab Circle Pro herself Jennifer Nicole Lee.

The results? Consumer Reports found that the home exercise machine does engage the core muscles but burns no more calories than walking quickly. They found the diet plan to be fairly strict... strict enough that most people would lose a significant amount of weight on it alone! Could that be the main reason why some people do burn fat and lose weight using the Ab Circle?

In the end, of the 13 panelists CR brought in to test out the machine, only 3 said they would actually consider buying it in the future. That's nearly a quarter of them... which may be quite a bit better than some people would have expected!

Can you lose 10 pounds in 3 weeks?

The other day I had a good friend ask me this question: "Can you lose 10 pounds in 3 weeks?" She wanted to know if it is possible to lose 10 lbs in such a short amount of time. I told her it depends: does she want to lose 10 pounds of fat or just 10 pounds in general? It would be extremely difficult to lose that much body fat in only 3 weeks. Not impossible... just very challenging.

On the other hand, it's not too hard to lose ten pounds in only 21 days if you follow certain diet and exercise rules. I gave me friend the following tips for losing 10 lbs in three weeks...

1. Get very focused on your specific goal. Write it down and think about it constantly.

2. Start eating a diet based around healthy, unprocessed "paleo" foods: meats, nuts/seeds, veggies, fruits, etc.

3. Limit your intake of sugars and starchy carbs. During these 3 weeks, the fewer sugars and starches you eat the faster you'll lose the weight.

4. Start drinking at least 70 ounces of water per day. You'll have more energy and less hunger.

5. Do short, intense workouts every other day. Combine both cardio and weight lifting for best results.

6. Take good supplements. A quality whey protein powder, a good multivitamin/multimineral forumla, and a decent omega 3 fish oil or krill oil supplement can make it much easier to lose fat, pounds, and inches super fast.
