We may not all have the same genetics, body chemistry, living situation, etc. but there are a few "best of the best" ways to burn off body fat and lose a least 10 pounds within a month. We recently received an email from a desperate reader who needs to lose some weight very quickly. Here's what she wrote:
"I need to lose 10 pounds in 5 days! I have to go to a pool party this Saturday and I don't want to be the only woman with a belly fat roll! Is it possible to do this? Can I just stop eating or is there a good diet to lose that much weight fast? Should I workout and how do I do it? What's the best way to get rid of these pounds in just five days??"

And here's our response:

Yes, it is possible to lose 10 pounds in just 5 days. But it's not easy and it's not recommended. First of all, much of the weight will be from lost "water weight", not body fat loss. Also, there are always health risks when trying to lose that much weight that fast. But it's pretty obvious that you're desperate to shed pounds so here's a simple plan you could follow. It'll get you closer to your goal than just about anything:

1. Cover the Basics -- Get at least 7 hours of sleep per night and drink a gallon of water per day. This will maximize your metabolism and energy levels so that your body is ready to shed extra weight.

2. Eat a VERY Clean Diet -- The best diet for losing pounds fast is one that's based around lean meats/proteins, non-starchy "good" carbs (mainly vegetables, beans, legumes, and raw fruit), and small amounts of healthy fats (e.g. extra-virgin olive oil, nuts, seeds, natural peanut butter, avocado, and unrefined coconut oil). Avoid ALL sugars, starches (even whole grains), and bad fats (especially fried foods and trans-fats!).

The other day I had a good friend ask me this question: "Can you lose 10 pounds in 3 weeks?" She wanted to know if it is possible to lose 10 lbs in such a short amount of time. I told her it depends: does she want to lose 10 pounds of fat or just 10 pounds in general? It would be extremely difficult to lose that much body fat in only 3 weeks. Not impossible... just very challenging.

On the other hand, it's not too hard to lose ten pounds in only 21 days if you follow certain diet and exercise rules. I gave me friend the following tips for losing 10 lbs in three weeks...

1. Get very focused on your specific goal. Write it down and think about it constantly.

2. Start eating a diet based around healthy, unprocessed "paleo" foods: meats, nuts/seeds, veggies, fruits, etc.

3. Limit your intake of sugars and starchy carbs. During these 3 weeks, the fewer sugars and starches you eat the faster you'll lose the weight.

4. Start drinking at least 70 ounces of water per day. You'll have more energy and less hunger.

5. Do short, intense workouts every other day. Combine both cardio and weight lifting for best results.

6. Take good supplements. A quality whey protein powder, a good multivitamin/multimineral forumla, and a decent omega 3 fish oil or krill oil supplement can make it much easier to lose fat, pounds, and inches super fast.
