But now it seems that there's a new "king" in the miracle fat loss supplement field: resveratrol. The popularity of this powerful plant-derived nutrient has been slowly simmering for several years. But now it seems that the weight loss marketers have gotten tired of pushing acai, which is in reality a questionable -- at best -- fat loss product. They're now focusing their money-making attention on resveratrol, a natural compound that may have strong anti-aging benefits... not to mention health benefits related to its anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, blood-sugar-lowering, and cardiovascular-boosting properties. Sure, the acai berry contains small amounts of resveratrol, but not enough to get people excited. Any supplements you buy will most-likely contain an extract of the Japanese knotweed... but I doubt you'll find that ugly-named plant anywhere in those pretty resveratrol weight loss ads!
So the resveratrol phytochemical definitely shows some promise in terms of boosting health. There's just one big problem: as in the case of acai products, there is still very little evidence that humans can actually obtain significant benefits from resveratrol supplements. And there is virtually no evidence that consuming large amounts of resveratrol will lead to faster weight loss!
Of course, as always, a certain percentage of people who see these new ads and fake weight loss blogs -- and who are desperate to lose weight quickly -- will spend their hard-earned money on these highly questionable products. Personally, I'm just going to drink some red wine, eat some delicious red grapes, drink my favorite frozen acai shake, and stick to the proven basics of fast, healthy fat loss.
If you do choose to give a resveratrol-based weight loss supplement a try, at least purchase one from a reputable company like this one.
